Prague Gets DWSHL Franchise
As the DWSHL enters its 6th season, the Czech Republic will get their first franchise. The Long Beach Brahmas after its 4th season in Long Beach decided to uproot and go where about 25% of their team is from, the Czech Republic. The Brahmas will now be known as the Knights with a new logo to boot.
Long Beach is coming off its best season in franchise history going 39-33-8 to finish 8th in the Jim Beam conference. The team was lead by a handful of Czech players like Roman Turek in net and Vaclav Prospal and Martin Rucinsky on offense. With Robert Reichel also on the team Czech fans have a lot of home grown talent to cheer.
Preliminary Camp Opens
After a summer to think over some things, camp has opened up in Prague for the first time in team history. 18 forwards, 8 defenseman and 4 goalies took their first step into the SAZKA as they focus on 2006. The team will split into squad and play some scrimmages to find some chemistry.
In the scrimmages expect GM Hockin and Tony Granato to each use line combos they see fit. Hockin will coach the Red squad with Granato at the helm of the black. The no contact hockey should be exciting and the fans first chance to see there team in any sort of action.
"Hopefully some of us can find something that works." said Alyn McCauley after a light morning skate. "I know I'm gonna match up with Yeller and Dingy come regular season so here's a good chance to work on the PK unit and see if I fit on the powerplay."
